Our Sexual Harassment Awareness training course explains what sexual harassment is, outlines the law on sexual harassment, and describes different routes you can take to deal with the problem. Once you have completed this course you will be able to recognise sexual harassment in the workplace, know who to report it to, and understand your responsibility in promoting a positive working environment.
Sexual harassment can happen anywhere and to anyone, but it happens more often to women than to men and young people more than older people. Managers with power are more often the harasser but they are sometimes sexually harassed by their staff. It is essential that everyone understands what behaviours and comments constitute sexual harassment.
This course takes around 1 hour to complete.
Who should take Sexual Harassment Training?
Everyone in a workplace has responsibilities related to behaviour. Managers set the standard for others and staff should bear responsibility for their own behaviour and reflect on whether they are making anyone uncomfortable.
Sexual harassment can happen in any workplace and to anyone, so this training is suitable for everyone in all types of workplaces, whether in an office, warehouse, school or construction site.

Frequently Asked Questions
Sexual harassment is unwanted behaviour of a sexual nature.
To be sexual harassment, the unwanted behaviour must have either violated someone’s dignity or created an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive environment for someone.
It doesn’t matter whether the behaviour was not intended to humiliate or offend. It is still sexual harassment if the behaviour has this effect even if it was not intended.
To say ‘it was just banter’ is no excuse. What one person considers banter may be offensive to someone else, and can be sexual harassment.
Also, if sexual behaviour was meant to intimidate someone then it is sexual harassment even if it did not have that effect.
No, the behaviour does not have to be in person. It could also happen on the phone, by email, on social media or even by letter.
If the flirting is welcomed by the person on the receiving end, then it is not sexual harassment.
As soon as the flirting is shown to be unwanted it constitutes sexual harassment. Even if the flirting was welcomed at first, if it is indicated that the behaviour is unwanted and the person has been asked to stop and they continue, then it is considered sexual harassment.
