This will help your staff to stay safe and protect residents.

This Fire Safety Awareness Course for Care Homes ensures learners are compliant with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006 and the Fire Safety Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010. The course has been updated to cover new guidance that came into effect in October 2023.

This online training course takes approximately 1 hour to complete.

It is a legal requirement for every employee of every business in the UK to complete adequate fire safety awareness training. This should be taken when they are first employed and on being exposed to new or increased risks.

The Importance of Fire Safety Awareness Training in Care Homes

Fires are extremely dangerous, especially when they occur in care homes, which are occupied by people who may have mobility issues, hearing or sight impairment, or mental health conditions that affect their understanding. These people may be slower to react to a fire and to evacuate a building safely. Fires can be even more serious at night time, when most of the residents are likely to be asleep in their rooms.

It is extremely important that care home staff receive fire safety awareness training. It will help them remain alert to potential fire hazards in the building and can help to prevent a fire from starting in the first place. Also, they will know how to act if a fire breaks out, so they can protect themselves and the lives of vulnerable elderly people.
