This topic explains how to reduce the risks associated with falling objects. It covers drop zones, the use of a drops calculator and how the potential severity of injuries from falling objects can be estimated.
5 – Ladder pre-use checks
This topic covers how to select and check a ladder before use, including ladder materials, standards and labelling. It explains when checks should be carried out, what to look for when inspecting leaning ladders and stepladders, and relevant HSE guidance on safe ladder use.
6 – Planning your work
This topic explains the checks and precautions to consider before starting work at height. It covers the safe movement of tools and materials to and from the work area, precautions to take while working at height and other hazards that may affect the safety of the task.

After completing all six topics, you will take an online assessment to check your understanding. Questions are selected from question banks, so the assessment can vary each time it is attempted.
